South China Sea Zone

The South China Sea is a semi-enclosed sea located in Southeast Asia and is the third-largest body of water in the world by area, after the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. The area is a major source of oil and natural gas and is also a major fishing ground.

Fishes displayed in the South China Sea zone include squirrelfish, soldierfish, and lionfish, as well as a colony of lobsters. Visitors will also get to see moray eels in this zone.

Lakes of East Africa Zone

This zone replicates Lake Tanganyika and Lake Victoria.

Lake Tanganyika is the world's second-largest freshwater lake by volume and depth at 470 metres (4,820 feet) while Lake Victoria is the largest tropical lake in the world. It has a surface area of 69,484 square kilometres (26,828 square miles), which is larger than Lake Ontario in North America.

Strait of Karimata and Java Sea Zone

The Strait of Karimata is the widest strait between the South China Sea and the Java Sea. It is also one of the deepest, with a maximum depth of over 2,000 meters (6,600 feet). It separates the Indonesian islands of Belitung to the west and Borneo (Kalimantan) to the east.

The Java Sea is the largest marginal sea in Southeast Asia. It has a surface area of over 310,000 square kilometres (120,000 square miles).

The Karimata Strait is not only home to a variety of marine life but is also a major shipping route.

Fishes displayed in the Strait of Karimata and Java Sea zone include batfish, pompano, Napolean wrasse, and threadfin trevally. The Bay of Bengal and the Laccadive Sea Zone

The Bay of Bengal is the world's largest bay while the Laccadive Islands are a group of islands that lie in the Bay of Bengal. Both are home to a variety of marine life.

Strait of Malacca and the Andaman Sea Zone

The Strait of Malacca and the Andaman Sea are two important waterways in Southeast Asia. The Strait of Malacca is in fact one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. Its narrow strait connects the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea.

The Andaman Sea is located in the northeastern part of the Indian Ocean and is home to over 500 islands. It is bordered by the Andaman and Nicobar Islands of India to the west and Myanmar and Thailand to the east.

Fishes displayed in this zone at S.E.A. Aquarium include angelfish, butterflyfish, and clownfish, as well as a variety of sharks and stingrays.

Open Ocean Habitat

The Open Ocean is the largest habitat at S.E.A. Aquarium, housing over 40,000 marine creatures across 120 different species. It has a 40-metre-long (131 ft) acrylic tunnel that allows visitors to walk through and experience up-close encounters with the marine life swimming all around them. The spectacular structure aims to simulate the feeling of being under the deep blue sea.

Within this impressive exhibit, visitors can encounter an array of marine species, including majestic rays, enormous schools of fish, and even predatory sharks. By Sentosa Express Monorail: 

Take the Sentosa Express monorail at Vivocity (Level 3) and alight at Resort World station (1 stop).
